hi there,
Next to our house, there is a loudspeaker that belongs to the local municipality that broadcasts announcements daily, via a loudspeaker that points directly at our house. The volume of the loudspeaker is very high and despite our requests, they haven't lowered it. As we have two children, that are unable to sleep through the broadcasts when they take place at night, we need a solution. We have looked into soundproofing the house, but as we are renting, we cannot make major modifications to the house. We are looking for a solution that can neutralize the sound of the loudspeaker.
Could you recommend us some electronic solutions?
We may even consider offering a small bounty for a low-cost, working solution.
how to neutralize a loudspeaker from 50 meters?

Three ideas,
1. Pink noise generator to mask the sounds.
2. Sound deadening material on the facing walls.
3. Sound wave neutralization equipment.
None of them will be a complete solution but they may help you stay in the house. Another option is to get sound levels and take them to your town counsel

Other than physically disabling the sound at the source, option #2 above is the most practical approach. Active noise cancellation is not very effective for voice frequencies in an uncontrolled environment.
Pink or white noise just masks noise with more noise. It works OK for masking low-level background noise, but would have to be obnoxiously loud to mask other obnoxiously loud noises.

I am still curious how they are allowed to do this. What country is this in?
