Which shield and Arduino to buy?

Post by maknike »

Dear Adafruit,

I've recently begun work on a project in which I want to create a stackable motor driver shield in order to control about 16 cooling (pancake) fans using pulse width modulation. I am new to coding and was hoping you could recommend which arduino and shields I should buy. Thanks I look forward to making my purchase with you soon!

Best,

Michael

The simplest thing would be to use our PWM Servo shield. It has 16 programmable PWM channels and they are stackable up to 62 for a total of up to 992 PWM channels.

Thanks for the recommendation! And which Arduino controller would you advise? As I mentioned my goal is to control an array of low voltage fans, something like that pictured in the attached image. Thanks again!

Unless you are anticipating some very complex code, an UNO or Leonardo should handle it.
