I live on a street where, for some reason, people continually blow the stop sign. I saw a kid almost die three weeks ago because of it... I'd like to get my city to do something, but I need data to show them how often this is happening. Because it's a public area, I can't use lasers to sense speed, so my options are ultrasonic or radar (microwave). Is there a sensor I can use with Arduino that will detect the speed of a moving car which is, say, 25-40 feet away?
Thanks - help me save a life!

Re: Measuring Speed
We have the Maxbotix ultrasonic distance sensors. But they are not really a great choice for an accurate measurement of speed. You can get a rough estimate by taking two distance readings a fixed time apart. But the timing resolution is not going to be very precise.
