Connect mini thermal printer to the RPi

I would like to know if this mini thermal printer can be connected directly into a Raspberry Pi or if I have to use an Arduino shield.

Thank you for the reply. The printer's connectivity is done via serial port. What is the best way to a serial device like this one to the Raspberry Pi?

The RasPi has serial RX/TX pins among its GPIO headers. The tutorial linked above describes how to make the connections.
