temperory registering Biometric Safe

I am just starting into arduino. I was thinking of making a safe for my office, where guests can keep their belonging, register their finger print, lock the safe, during retrieval unlock the safe with their fingerprint and the fingerprint is erased from the record.Can the experts guide me where I can begin .. Any reading materials or tutorials. Any help will be appreciated.
