Replace IR receiver for wires

Post by homeplayer »

Dear all,

I am new to this forum, I hope this is the write place for my question.

What I like to do is hack the receiver out of the box and replace it whit 1 wire, to send the commands over to the RGB controller.

What do I know/ what I have found out so far.
  1. If Receiver is inactive it's out put is 5v
  2. The Ic floats on 5v to, so that needs to be pulled to gnd
  3. I know how to read the codes from the remote, en re-send them too
On the web I have found nothing, could it be that it isn't possible? If all fails, I could always power on about 5 or even more Ir-led's on different locations to get it all working, but using a wire is my goal.

I think you can just use an Arduino digital output pin to replicate the codes and the controller board wouldn't know the difference.
