you can either keep cutting
or start looking around the remaining components

be sure to remove the eeprom and micro
just in case the shorts are internal to those parts

the next place to cut is the trace that runs up to s19

also
if you hold your pcb up to a strong light
you can look for little flakes of copper
shorting between the power pins and ground

Made a cut in the powertrace running up to S19 and no difference. Searched the board for something wrong but i just cant find any wrong soldering

Is there any way to check the eeprom and micro for faults?

do you still get a short
on either side of the trace you cut to s19

if you have removed the eeprom and micro
and there is a still a short
then the problem is not with either of them

I have removed the eeprom and micro and still have a connection below S19 towards IC4 and J3, but not above S19.

The cut is made between C102 and pin8 on IC2 and i still get a connection on C 102 but not on IC2.

I think i'm beginning to realise where the short might be...

i have soldered sockets on all the IC's. I think it might be a short between the mainboard and the socket which is nearly impossible to see.

An it's probably J3 or IC3, don't you think?

i was thinking the same thing earlier today
a short below the socket
or perhaps even inside the socket

try removing the socket
and see what happens to the resistance

if not remove c102

Ok. I have removed the sockets from IC3 and J3 and looked VERY closely for a short and found nothing, and it was no difference... still a connection from ground to the powertrace.

Now i have removed C102...and what should i be looking at to see if C102 has something do do with the short?

measure the resistance to ground with c102 out
if it is still 0ohms then c102 was fine
and the short is a small hair of copper

look really closely at the 5v trace
with the board held up to a light
and run a banned blade all along the sides of the 5v trace

Sorry for a really late response but i have been really busy with my family etc.

However i have got it working thanks to you Guest!

But it seems that there is still something not working correct.

G,A,B,C (5,6,7,8) will not work (works in midi-mode), and neither will the "Rest" "Accent" and "Slide" button.
The lights for these buttons do work but i get no response when using these buttons.

Regards!

when you have the x0x in keyboard mode
and you push those buttons
do the lights above them come on

can you program a pattern
and does the done button work

all of those buttons are on the same chip
ic16
measure the resistance to ground from pin9 of ic16
then make sure it has 5v on pin16

make sure its the right chip
and that its orientated properly
the chip could just be bad as well
