Yes, but when I try to run it, it gives me the error: Does not name a type.

Post the complete output - including the error message.

Now I can't download the sample code from your website. When I try, it just takes me back to the tutorial for the ssd1306.

Try downloading the library and sample sketch directly from github:
https://github.com/adafruit/SSD1306

Cheers!

I tried that and got the same results. Any thing else I can do? Is there a simple test to see if what I have hooked up is operational?

It gives you the same error message? Does it refrence a line # in the sketch where the error occurs? Also, did you install the library when you downloaded the sample sketch?

We can't help if you are not more specific. Post the complete text of the error messages you are getting.

Since I can't download the sample code now I am stuck. I did download it on another computer wich is in repair now. I only downloaded the sample code and tried to run it. As soon as I get the original computer back from repair I will send you the error messages I recieved. If I could download the sample code again, I could try to run it on the computer I am using now.

There seems to be something wrong with your computer so I wouldn't use it for this until you find out what is wrong with it.

When I went to the GIThub site, I saw where to download the library but when I tried to download it took me back to the tutorial site. Somehow I don't understand why it does that. Can someone try the same download and see if they get the same problem?

I just tried the github link. The big "Downloads" button on the right works just fine.

If you're not used to Github it's actually easy to miss the downloads button. It's big, but it blends right into the background. Personally I'd colour it blue (it turns blue when you mouse over it) so it stood out more.

Once you've downloaded the file, put it in your arduino / libraries file, then restart the arduino ide software and load up the SSD1306 example sketch. It should compile & load to your arduino without any errors.

Cheers!

I downloaded the library successfully and now I think the problem is how to upload the entire library to the Arduino library. I think I only loaded the sample before and that is why all the error codes appeared and would not load the Arduino.

My question now is how to load the entire library in the Arduino library. Can you provide me a step by step instruction? I cannot find the Arduino library in the in the IDE. I guess I don't know where to look for it.

I do appreciate all the help.
