5W solar panel / higher capacity LiPo for Mighty Minty Boost

Postby soccerdude71 » Tue Jun 07, 2011 8:20 pm

Hello,

I would like to try and use a 6v 5W panel for my MMB so that it charges faster. Suggestions for R4? Or anything else?? :)

Also, any thoughts on using the higher capacity LiPo? I think it is 2200Mah... Would it work with my suggested setup? Any issues with the MMB's ability to charge it? will it fit in my altoids case?

Thanks
George

the mintyboost doesnt care what kind of lipo is attached
as for the solar panel, we'll have a specialized solar charger that should greatly increase the charge rate. it will be released in a week or two, but we have no other details to release until then

Thanks for your reply. I will look into this when it is released. In the meantime, what you you suggest for R4 on my existing unit with the 5w panel? And do you think the 2200 or 2700mah battery will fit in a altoids tin?

I don't have a tin handy to check, but the cell dimensions are on the "technical details" tab here:

good news, we got a bunch of chargers tested and made, we did try one with a 6V 3W panel but dont have a larger one. we'd like to hear if it works with your big panel!
