could the trace be cracked without being visible under a big magnifier glass? there is just r225 on this trace between the switch and pin 12 of ic17 and the trace looks fine. i also reheated every pad before trying to connect them with some wire... well, it doesnt matter much now, i am just curious :)

the vca is working. i had connectivity between the 2 points that you asked me to measure, but the voltages were different. after putting some solder on the side of the pcb, where the ba6110 is visible, i had the right voltage... kinda strange too, cause the 2 points were connected for sure.

i ran some tests now and it doesnt sound quite right  i think it has to do with slide. i programmed some patterns and compared it with my other 2 x0xes and its definatly not how it should sound.
overall the sound is a bit different, but not bad. maybe it has to do with the 945p trannies, in my other x0xes i used 536f.
i try to upload some demos later...

im glad to hear its mostly working

there are definitely small cracks that cant be seen

program in a pattern without slides
and see if it sounds the same or not
and then try the accents

it doesnt sound the same with and without slides or accents. its mainly noticeable when you programm a slide from a lower note up to a higher note.
there is a slide but the second note gets pronounced too loud. hope you understand what i mean :/
its more noticeable at the square wave.

i am in trouble with my pc at the moment, after installing a driver my daw didnt work anymore. i am at reinstalling windows at the moment, maybe i am able to upload a demo if i finish this sh.. today.

overall this x0x sounds more "aggressive". the square doesnt sound as hollow as i am used to it from my other x0xes.

what can you read exactly on your 4066 chip?
please check Q32 twice... is it NPN? is it proper soldered?

what did you use for Q28? SK30A-O or another?

hi substyler :>

the 4066 is marked as:

HCF4066BE
GK8140MJ

i got it from mouser i think.

Q32 is a 2SC945p and the soldering looks good.

Q28 is a 2sk30-O

it would be good to independently test the slide and accent
measure all the voltages on the 4066
first with nothing on
then just slides
and then just accents

im guessing a short between two pins on it

ok, maybe i wont be able to do it today.

i could make small demo now, if you wanna hear how it sounds.

didnt know wherelse i should upload it, so here is the link: http://ul.to/gkbqb40t

4 bars square and 4 bars saw with an, in my opinion, good sounding x0x and then the same with the new x0x. its a famous pattern where you can here it very good.
cutoff is 75% and reso 100% at both x0xes.

gonna try to find some time to measure the 4066 :D

when I hear this demosequence I think it's something wrong with your 4066.
as guest said measure all voltages on this chip... maybe there's a short and look around D26, D28, D29, D30 and D31 and check for proper orientation.
you should also check the voltages of IC11.

i fixed it. it was vr2 again. i desoldered this poti during this build about 3 times, the solderpads didnt like that  some wires were helpfull again.
after fixing the strange slides, i played a bit with tm3 and it was turned up way too much, this explains the "aggressive" sound

tomorrow i am gonna check all functions again and if everything works, i think we (means all helpers in this thread) have made it :D
special thx to guest for all the help on the last 3 pages and for encouraging me to fix this x0x.

the problem with the traces under the pot where the support legs stands on a trace?
therefore I've made new PCBs with another routing of traces, so there are no longer traces under any pot :)

yeah, i just got them from mr. substyler :D

@substyler

the first problem i had was caused by those traces under the poti. now the solderpads were bad due to desoldering the poti 3 times (3rd desoldering was to fit in the centered pot)
good work with your new PCBs, i am looking forward to transistorize them
