orientation of non polarized caps

Postby aminoacid » Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:18 am

hi!

non polarized caps can be put in either way in its position but ive read some latley about this could be optimized for some circuits.

film caps are buildt with an outer and an inner conducting lead which represent one leg of the cap...

would you experienced techs here consider any caps in the xox to gain from a specific orientation for ex in the vco or vcf?

with my lack of skills i am from time to time experienceing with components in the xox. this just accured to my interest.

the only gain i could imagine that sort of detail having
would be to minimize pickup noise
in really high impedance amplifiers
and it would only make a difference
if one end of the cap was connected to ground

none of the nonpolarized caps fall into this category on the x0x

ok!

ill discard the idea of reversing some film caps then!

spended half day socketing transistors instead and trying out different hfe setups.

wonder how much this pcb can take :)
