I am new to Arduino. Where can I get instructions , list of items to get for this project?

Thanks for the code by the way. Awesome project.

What size do you want to make? Don't know about skibum's but I can send a drawing of the 36x18" one I made.

Materials: the lighting strip from Adafruit, 1/4" plywood, furring strips (or dowels?) for the spacers, screws or nails to fasten it together, a 'duino to drive it (I used a DC Boardino, you could also use a Teensy if you want to port the code), and a power supply capable of supplying 5 volts at sufficient current - a PC ATX power supply works well.

I am not too picky about the size. I really appreciate the drawings, and product list. I have an arduino Mega. Would that be ok to use that? And, what code do I use? Can I use the one posted at this thread?

Thanks in advance.

the code skibum posted is written for a 5 meter strip. If you build something smaller you'll need to rework the code.

I haven't posted my code yet, still playing with it, but I reworked it to be configurable as to strip (and segment size).

The Mega would work but it's way overkill. I liked the Boarduino because I could hide it inside the star (sealed in a plastic bag to keep water out).
