Please Help!

Postby Stevie_t » Thu Jan 12, 2012 11:17 am

Hello, I have just finnished my x0xb0x which I sorced from willyz (including the usb soldering service) and it was great to build although i have a few problems and dont know what to do.

Firstly, when i finished the i/o board and tried to test it, i plugged it in to my pc and nothing appeared, i tried the same on my laptop and got the same results.

Secondly, not sure if this is related to the first problem, when i try to use it, all i get is like a quiet white noise from the outputs 9main and headphones).

Hope its nothing serious

Cheers Stevie.

I have noticed, if i turn up TM3 to the max, i get some sort of sound that i would be expecting from the xoxbox but still very faint and covered in whitenoise.

did it pass the tests during the build

do lights come on
does the sequencer index the lights
are all of the voltage rails steady
5v 5.333v 6v 12v

Yes it did pass all the tests during the build, all apart from on completion of the i/o board and asked to connect it to a comnputer and it did not come up.

Whats the best way to check all the voltage rails? Bit of a novice here.

Cheers stevie.

use a multimeter
and check the voltages on j4
and across c6 and c1

I got a few readings, not sure if theyre as they should be.

C6=5V
C1=6V

J4= Pin 2-3 =12V and pin 1-2 = 5.31V

when you put it in keyboard mode
do the lights above the notes light up
when the keys are pressed

connect your multimeter up to the cv out
and see if the voltage increases
as you play higher notes

and then check the gate out
and see if it goes to 12v when you press a key
and then back to 0v when you release

Yes all the lights light up and the voltages are as you say.

I have access to an oscilloscope if anyone has any ideas.

start probing for signal
at the waveform switch
at the resonance pot
and at the volume pot

set it to random
when checking

Iv probed about, im getting a wave form (square and saw) at the waveform switch. the resonance im only gettin a 2v dc bias, and the volume is roughly a 4v bias. i accidently bridged r183 and the wave form swith when i was probing about and more of a 303 style sound was produced dont know if that info helps anyone.

Sorry, when probing with the oscilloscope i was connecting one end to ground( at the heat sink) then probing with the other is the right?

if youre not getting signal at the resonance pot
then there is probably something wrong with the vcf

compare the dc bias voltages in the vcf
to the voltage map stickied in the forums
