I had NC1 hooked up to 5v power, C1 hooked up to ground, and NON1 hooked up to pin 2 to try out the Button tutorial sketch. The Arduino shorted out . I tried a few other configurations but still can't seem to get it right.
Hook up either nc1 or no1to pin 2 and c to ground or power depending on what you want to happen when you press the button. If you are not sure what you are doing adding a 1K resistor in series will protect your Arduino.
The NC pin is "normally closed" The NO pin is "normally open" Most simple switches (like the ones in the tutorial) are normally open. If you are following the button tutorial, use the NO and the C (common) pins.
