Quick question ref C101

Postby safetyboy » Mon Jan 09, 2012 5:11 pm

My friend bought a x0x off someone and it was working fine, he then tried to flash with sokkos FW but it's stopped working now, I've tried to re-flash it with original x0x FW but its still not working, So i got a stand alone programmer and re flashed the micro-controller which all goes fine, but still nothing from the x0x. The odd LED will light up when plugged in but that's it.

I noticed that there is no cap in c101, could this cause trouble?

you should definitely put c101 in

and if your standalone programmer can do it
check what the fuse settings are in the x0x
im guessing it has something to do with the bootloader

Cheers will check that when i get home.

* How do I check the fuses and the bootloader :)

c0ntr0l uploaded the FW fine, but still no joy, tried the patched c0ntr0l and now neither c0ntr0l works! meh?!

every time i try run control now i get this error

If i go the the resources folder and double click sixteenth.gif it opens Internet explorer, strange..

http://www.advin.com/eprom-programmer-580A.htm

this one here, it was working fine before trying new FW so I assume all is fine up until the Seq! I have an oscilloscope that i will try collect today and work my way through it!

if you have a scope
check that the crystal is oscillating
and then see if there is any data going on any of the lines

i havent seen that programmer before
are you using it with avrdude

looks like a modemachines/tt x0x
although its hard to say without seeing the whole thing
but they use the small resistors like that
and the switch pcb layout is different

if it doesnt say who made it on it
thats not a good sign

any use? i seem to have good voltage around the board on all the IC's, as i said, it was working before the USB flash?

Any idea's guest?

It is different from my board from x0xsh0p which worked and flashed perfectly.

Crystal seems to be oscillating, I only got the scope last night so i am a bit confused with it. left pin on the xtal

definitely a tt kit
its got the chip resistors in there for r100

what frequency is the sinewave on the scope you show

are there any signals
on any of the other pins of the microcontroller

Not sure as i was just given the scope today, My electronics are before this techno banned :) Everything seems fine on the voltage front, so i assume its the bootloader you speak of, would ordering a new Microprocessor work or is it fixable?

Edit :

So its a TT, what's the easiest way of fixing this bad boy?

check that there is 5v
on pins 9 and 40 of the microcontroller

then double check the scope on the xtl pins
and see what the amplitude and frequency are
if youre not certain how to read those
post a clear screen shot

check with the scope to see if there are any other signals
on any of the other pins
or are they just fixed at 5v or ground

getting a new microcontroller is probably the easiest fix
but we should be able to get this running
although it might require reburning the micro

IF i put the microprocessor in my working x0x and program it there will that work?

you should put the nonworking microcontroller
into the working x0x and see what happens
just to verify that its the microcontroller thats broken

and you can try to program it in the working x0x
it might not work though
