Adalight not showing right colors

Postby sjaok » Thu Mar 08, 2012 3:01 pm

I have a Arduino Uno 3 and the WS2801 led strand.
The problem is that they don't show right colors, just pink/purple-ish all the time..
The leds only change the color slightly, all colors shown are purple og pink mostly.
(It just dim the purple color up and down as the screen changes) :?
They don't turn off when there is a black spot where the leds capture on the screen either.
I have tried the Adalight-code but are now using Ligthpack.

Is the problem on the Arduino board or in the sourcecode?
Do anyone have a fix for this?

That does sound odd. It could be a problem with the video capture/scanning. Have you tried running the colorswirl test code to see if it outputs correctly? If the colorswirl works, that would seem to indicate that serial communication to the Arduino, the Arduino, and the LED's are working correctly.

Sounds like they're not receiving power, or enough power. What are you using as a power supply? And any chance you could post a picture of your wiring?

The attachment 20120113_0020202.jpg is no longer available

For PSU i use the one thats in the project pack for Adalight.
I have 36 leds connected. Wiring on the picture attached.

Ah, okay. Could you try something for me?

In the LEDstream sketch (which gets uploaded to the Arduino), could you please try changing this line (#103):
Code: Select all
  SPI.setClockDivider(SPI_CLOCK_DIV8);  // 2 MHz

to this:
Code: Select all
  SPI.setClockDivider(SPI_CLOCK_DIV16);

Upload to the board, then try colorswirl in Processing again. Lemme know if that clears it up, thanks.

I tried running Colorswirl this evening, pburgess.
It shows all the right colours when running colorswirl, both with or without the change in the code.
