Dynamo Hub And Solar Panel.

Postby slopez » Mon Mar 19, 2012 5:53 am

Hi,

I have a dynamo hub and ewerk dc converter. I would like to charge a battery pack with a solar panel too.

Can I combine the 2 systems with a USB/DC Lithium Polymer battery charger 5-12V - 3.7/4.2v cells or Do I need USB / DC / Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger too?

A possible assemby, I feed the Lithium Polymer battery charger 5-12V with the Ewerk and the solar panel feed the solar lithium polymer charger. The chargers feed the same lithium battery pack. One output, from the battery out I feed a boost dc dc regulator to 5 V.

Is it possible? Is this an efficient system?

Thank you very much.

You can't have two chargers trying to charge the same battery.

If your DC converter puts out 5-6v DC, you could wire it in parallel with the solar panel as input to the solar charger. But you would need blocking diodes in series with both to prevent reverse current flow.

Which does the current suported in this Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger?

Thank you very much.

Which does the current suported in this Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger?

The charge rate is adjustable from 50mA to 1A.

I´m asking about the feed intensity. I see that switching power supply that give an output of 2000mA. Can I feed the solar charger through the battery input and the solar input at the same time? Does the solar input suportt 2000 mA? I would like to solder a resistance so the output is 1A. The intensity feed inputs would be variable from the solar panel and the dynamo converter.

Thank you for your attention.

Current is determined by the load, not the source. Your source may be capable of 2000mA, but the charger will only draw what it needs to produce the selected charge current.

I think that we work with parallel sources, the source with the higher voltage has the diode open and the sources with the lower voltage has the diode close. I would like to work with the two systems, solar and dynamo energy at the same time. I don´t want the current to alternate between the two systems. Maybe, I can regulate the input with a dc dc convertor but we have the same problem when the voltage is changing and the diodes have to do their work.

Thank you very much again.
