Arduino UNO failed to connect

Postby Ray_RC » Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:32 pm

Hi,
When I first plugged the UNO I bought from you into my computer it did not register with the computer as an Arduino; the computer only detected it as a USB device. I borrowed another UNO from a friend and it was properly detected. What should I do?
Thanks,
Ray

Try selecting the USB device in the device manager and updating the driver as described in step 4 here. http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/Windows

I did.

Please read my first post carefully. It does show up. But NOT as an Arduino, just as a USB device.

Thanks...

P.S. The reason I think the Arduino UNO you sent me has failed is the fact the UNO I borrowed worked fine. Would it help to try hooking the one from you up, now that the driver is installed?

Try it. Sometimes an UNO will show up under "Other Devices" or "USB Devices". In either case, updating the drivers usually works.

In rare cases where the 16U2 is not functioning properly the driver update will fail. If this is the case we will replace the board.

Ok, I did try it and it still didn't work :(. So I suppose it is bad. Do I send it back, and if so what kind of documentation do you need with it?
