question with camera on 'internet of things'

hi all
I have whipped up an internet of things camera no problem.
I'd like to tweak it to take the camera image, but average the content out to one colour only - that being an average of the sight. Does anyone know a way this could be done on the arduino before the image is captured and saved?

You'd need to decode the JPEG. That would be a challenge in the limited memory of the Arduino.

there is no way to take the camera output and average before it saves a jpeg?

No. The camera only outputs NTSC and JPEG.
