Postby MOFUNGO » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:14 pm

Trying to install Arduino uno R3, Have Windows 7 64 bit. Downloaded version 1.0 Software. Device Manager shows Arduino UnoR3 Com 3 and driver software upto date. Cannot find .Inf file, and cannot go any further. "L" led is always flashing. Downloaded files a number of times.

Cannot find .Inf file,

When updating the driver file in Device Manager, navigate to the "Arduino-1.0/Drivers" folder. The inf file does not show up in the browse window, but it is there.

So what problem are you seeing now? In your original post you said
Cannot find .Inf file

Are we past that stage now?

Open the IDE and select tools->serial port and select the COM port assigned by the device manager.

I'm sorry, but not sure what IDE is, and where it is located.

In the Arduino-1.0 folder there should be an application file called "Arduino". That is the Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment). Double click on it to run it.

This is from the Arduino Troubleshooting guide: http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/troubleshooting

What about the error "Could not find the main class."?

If you get this error when launching Arduino:

Java Virtual Machine Launcher: Could not find the main class. Program will exit.

make sure that you correctly extracted the contents of the Arduino .zip file - in particular that the lib directory is directly inside of the Arduino directory and contains the file pde.jar.

Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. :)

So you do not see the "Lib" folder in there?

Download the Arduino 1.0 zip file from here and unpack it once more. You should have a "Lib" folder with the "pde" file inside it.
