the chip and batteries getting very hot!!

Hi there,

i read the topic and the tutorials and all said that the minty boost V3 getting very hot, but i found that nobody said that the batteries getting very hot too.

why is that?

i did it step by step as ladyada tutorial and testing it and i get 5 Volt from USB, but why the batteries getting very very hot??

i used DURACELL Batteries.

The batteries can get quite warm. What kind of device are you charging?
i used DURACELL Batteries.

What kind of Duracell batteries? Most alkalines have a fairly high internal resistance. Use batteries designed for high-drain applications such as the Duracell-Ultra.

the batteries i used is Alkaline Duracell MN1500 AA 1.5V LR6 <--(i don't know what is that)

i charged iPhone 4 not 4S

the batteries get very hot not warm.

Alkaline Duracell MN1500

That is the standard Duracell. They are pretty good for a standard alkaline cell, but not the best for high-drain applications. The internal resistance of standard alkaline cell chemistry causes the cells to heat up when supplying high current. The Duracell Ultra's are a better choice for modern phones with high-charge-rates like the iPhone 4.
