Standalone AVR ISP Programmer Shield Kit

Postby inukshuk » Wed May 02, 2012 1:40 pm

Bought the kit. Wired it and rang out all the wiring. Running a UNO. Successfully loaded the adaBootloader sketch to the UNO. Mounted the ISP shield and the red led keeps blinking. Tried to burn a bootloader and the red led goes out, the green led works and the buzzer buzzes at the completion of the process. But the red led comes back on. Unfortunately, I don't have another board that I can try this with. Any ideas / help would be appreciated.

I checked the adaBootLoader sketch and found that the separate heartbeat code was replaced by blinking the red led. So, if I'm correct, the red led now performs 2 functions - it signals and error; and it blinks a heartbeat - very confusing. At least to me :? . Everything else 'appears' to work properly. The 'loading the bootloader' process gave good, positive messages. So, now I have to figure out why I can't load blink to the diecimila with this new bootloader. If any one thinks my analysis is wrong please let me know.

I have verified that I can load blink to a duemilanove using an operating chip. I CANNOT load blink to the same board using the blank chip that came with the kit and that was loaded with the bootloader despite the fact that writing the bootloader was done 'successfully'. So the finger points back at the programmer or the bootload sketch. I guess I still need some help. I also succesfully programmed the bootloader to another chip and this couldn't load blink either.

What errors do you see when you try to upload blink?
Make sure you select Duemilanove w/328 as the board type.

Changed the extension. Hopefully it can now be opened.

When? When I burn the bootloader. Or when I try to load blink? - I did the latter. I did not do the first.

I changed the board type to the target board when I burned the bootloader and successfully loaded blink. Thanks for your help.
