External Antenna on Ultimate GPS Breakout board?

Postby celer » Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:26 am

Hi,

I was googling around abit and found a datasheet for a MTK3329 based product which indicates the MTK3329 can take an external antenna, and then I noticed the Ultimate GPS breakout board has what appears to be the same pads on it, any thoughts on the Ultimate GPS breakout board an use an external antenna?

Thanks,

celer

In the future would you guys consider doing a breakout board based on the version PA6H of the MTK3339 with support for an external antenna?

we've already ordered samples and will look into updating the breakout board but there is no ETA for when that would be - it could take many months before it is finished, tested and the modules are available as they are very new!

Any progress on supporting an external antenna on the ultimate GPS breakout board? My project/product is to be used in a marine environment, often surrounded by a metal boat hull. I couldn't find any GPS modules which support an external antenna that I might easily mate with a Raspberry Pi! Any ideas are very welcome.

Cheers,
Brian
