LED Belt Windows 7 driver install issue

Environment is WIN7

Are you on a 32 or 64 bit system?

In C:/Windows/inf, there should be a file called "setupapi.dev.log". The last section should show a record of your driver install attempts and may contain some useful information for diagnosing the problem.

It is doing the default search for drivers. This won't work. You need to select "Browse my computer for driver software". Then select the folder where you have downloaded the INF file.

I did that – several times checked and double checked After your last post I took a break and then learned what the setupapi.dev.log does and found I could delete it. Then I looked at atmega32u4cdc.inf well well what do you know? The file atmega32u4cdc.inf had garbage at the bottom of the file. It’s corrupt! I haven’t seen that since MSDOS ver 5 I’m happy to say. I downloaded another atmega32u4cdc.inf and followed adafruit procedure and worked as advertised. Finished building the LED Belt Kit works great first time. I hope this information is helpful to someone. Thank you for your help.

I'm having the same issue here. Windows won't recognize atmega32u4cdc.inf as a valid driver when I point it at the driver location (tried both my desktop and a subfolder on the desktop containing only the driver). I just says no valid drivers found. Looking at the .inf in notepad I'm not seeing any obvious garbage text. Using a version of the .inf downloaded from http://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/atmega32u4cdc.inf .

I took a look at setupapi.dev.log but it makes no mention of any events preceding 2 days previous to my attempts to install these drivers.

Any help would be appreciated.
