The situation remains the same ... the same behavior of D35, 3.1 V constant we have in the cathode, which increases to approximately 11.70 V when pressing the button ... Q1 Q2 Q3 and Q4 are correct ... But short of doing testing with the multimeter on these components, I'm starting to think that might be one of them ...

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit) ( SOLVED !! )

Postby exagonal » Fri May 11, 2012 12:16 pm

ok then, things went well ... I noticed in the packaging of the kit some components in surplus .. one of them was a 2SA733, which actually had a code different from all others except for a 733, mounted in Q1. I decided to replace Q1 with this surplus and, once again tested, I obtained a short in the 12V line, inserting the BA6110 in the socket, the voltage of 12 V rail drop down to 3 V!
From here the intuition that both transistors were banned or otherwise dysfunctional! Adapting a common 2N3906 PNP, I could see that my intuition was correct! Now everything is working right! Thank you all for the enormous help you gave me! :D

P. S. One last thing ... I'm not sure leaving this transistor in the circuit .. I think it definitely changes the sound a lot. What do you think? I could put in place of 2SA733P in Q1? I ardinato 2SA733Q, think can be a good substitute? :?

Again, thank you very much!

if you replace both q1 and q2
with 2n3906
then it will be fine
they just need to be the same transistor

glad to hear its working

Hey, guys. I got a willzyx kit and I'm having the same problem. All my tests have yielded correct results, but I'm getting no sound on my outputs. I thought it might be the BA6110 because I wasn't getting an ac reading on a scope from the output pin with all my jumpers attatched; however, I probed pin 4 with a 220k resistor with 12v running through it and was able to get a sound out of my headphone output which I could modulate with my knobs and the sqr/saw switch. Everything seems to be soldered clean and correct, but pushing buttons doesn't give me anything. Does anyone know the voltage values I should be reading through all the jumpers? I feel like maybe power isn't making it somewhere on the board and when I checked j6 and 7 I was getting like no voltage on any of the pins of either cable except some negligible noise in the milivolt range. I really don't know what angle to attack this from, should I replace the BA6110 and the LA4140?

OK, let's sort through all of this.

If you're getting sound out of the headphone output under the circumstances you described it means that the LA4140 works (this is the headphone amp). However this also should result in sound out of the "MIX OUT" output (if J7 is connected properly) since the headphone amp sits behind it. Please check.

No voltage on J6 and J7 is more or less normal since both don't carry any power lines. J6 carries the CV/Gate signal (actually you should be able to measure something there - but that has nothing to do with the problem at hand so let's ignore that for now) while J7 carries the audio signal for the main mix (and the external input).

The way you describe it I get the impression as if the BA6110 isn't getting the proper envelope signal on pin 4? Do you get any voltage on pin 4 when you play a note (in keyboard mode)?

Hey, thanks for the help. I had the pot cap on the wrong way, I wAs testing sounds in midi sync. Works now. They should probably indicate the polarity of those caps in the manual because I remember wondering about it. Off to acid heaven for me. :D
