Motor Shield Kit V1.1 PCB

The PCB in this kit is Version 1.2 which has double the number of hole for digital and analog pins. Are the additional holes for adding headers on the top side so I can access those signals while the shield is installed on my Arduino UNO?

Yes. You can add headers, or solder wires direct to the breakout holes.
