avrdude erros

by iBucky on Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:32 am

I'm using MiniPov3 kit from adafruit.
Using Windows 7
Using USB cable 'USB-RS232' from adafruit
MiniPov3 lite up in sequence as stated in the instructions (adafruit site) after assemble
Getting error running "make program-minipov'

I followed all the adafruit instructions and when running the make program-minipov I recieved the following error. Not knowing what to do I answered yes and got another error - so I answered yes to the rest. Got the same error everytime. I'm at a lost as what to do next. I've searched the forum. Looked in the make file and while I saw the lfuse I'm not sure what to change, additionally I didn't see hfuse nor efuse

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
avrdude: verifying ...
avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000
         0x12 != 0x00
avrdude: verification error; content mismatch

avrdude: safemode: lfuse changed! Was e4, and is now 0
Would you like this fuse to be changed back? [y/n] y
avrdude: and COULD NOT be changed
avrdude: safemode: hfuse changed! Was df, and is now 0
Would you like this fuse to be changed back? [y/n] y
avrdude: and COULD NOT be changed
avrdude: safemode: efuse changed! Was ff, and is now 0
Would you like this fuse to be changed back? [y/n] y
avrdude: and COULD NOT be changed
avrdude: safemode: Fuses not recovered, sorry

avrdude done.  Thank you.

make: *** [program-minipov] Error 1

BTW I think there is a typo on the instructions at 'Solder it' section "Place the 8 47 ohm resistors, just like the last time." Should read 'Place the 8 100 ohm resistors, just like the last time.'

Thank you in advance and I hope someone can reply with an answer as I'm making this for my daughters birthday scavenger hunt. Hard to give a clue on the hunt via the miniPov with it not working... I know soo important, but we gotta have fun somewhere and while my kids are young I'm going to torture them. No present comes easy! The talking stuffed animal thanks to the Emic2 chip is hopefully going to be a hit. Wow do I love the Emic chip!

It is not communicating with the chip properly. Can you post photos of the front & back of the board?

The assembly looks fine. Make sure that the chip is firmly seated in the socket. If it still doesn't communicate, contact support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread and ask for a replacement MiniPOV processor.

By the way: Post a photo of your EMIC-enabled stuffed animal and I'll see if I can get it into the blog. :D

<<Make sure that the chip is firmly seated in the socket.>>
I pulled the chip and reset it back and It Worked. Guess I didn't have it seated properly...
Thank you for the help/support.
I'll post pictures when I'm done with the EMIC.
