nevermind
i uploaded the bootloader using the arduino IDE
but at the bottom it said this
Code: Select all
avrdude: Yikes!  Invalid device signature.
avrdude: Expected signature for ATMEGA168 is 1E 94 06

the bootloader worked but what does this code mean?

mm, very strange. are you sure its an atmega168 that you are programming? look VERY CAREFULLY on the top of the chip

this is an Arduino question not a usbtinyisp question
please post your question to the arduino forum
where you are more likely to get assistance

It's not, she's right, this is an Arduino question as it is related to the build process of the Arduino bootloader. Here is the usbtiny forum. If you need a reason why you shouldn't post here: for one there aren't nearly as many Arduino users as on the Arduino forum, for two you clutter the usbtiny forum with unrelated content which makes it harder for other people to find usbtiny related answers on this forum. Moreover, don't expect an answer on a forum with an attitude like that.

My 2 Cents.
