First I want to say great kit, it was a lot of fun, I think it turned out well. I wanted something small so I ditched the AA's and went with a 3.6V cell phone battery. I wrapped the whole thing in some heavy duty heat shrink, and trimmed to fit. Thanks for the kit

Thats a pretty slick use of the cell phone battery. How do you charge it?

The battery terminals are covered with a small piece of electrical tape. To charge the battery, I simply remove the tape and place the whole unit in the cell phone for charging.

I'm curious -- have you tried comparing the range you get with the cell phone batteries with using two AA batteries?

I'd guess that you might get a little more range with the cell phone battery, but I'm not sure.

I was getting maybe 50 - 60 feet on a pair of average AA batteries. With the cell phone battery fully charged, just over 3.9V, I am able to get about 120 feet at Wal-Mart.

I felt a little conspicuous pacing it out so I didn't do extensive testing, but with better aim I am sure I could do better.

That's great!

After a little practice you will find that people rarely even notice when the TV goes off, and unless you're being way totally obvious about it (like holding out your arm and acting like you're using a remote control), no one will ever think that it was someone in the room who turned off the TV.

Please turn off lots of TVs with your great tool.
