LPC810 Starter Kit - problem using OSX

by cliff52 on Thu Jun 20, 2013 4:45 pm

Trying to get started with the LPC810 - the ARM tool chain loads just fine on OSX but Flashmagic for OSX doesn't support the LPC810.
I have a Windows 8 computer available, but couldn't get it working with the PL2303-based USB to serial chip in the cable supplied with the Starter Kit.
Would appreciate ideas from anyone getting either to work - OSX or Windows 8.

There was a recent post where I linked to a site that had instructions on making the drivers work with windows 8. You might search the forum or try Google.

Alternately, if you have an FTDI cable (3.3V only!), that also works with Flash Magic (the FTDI driver download page claims Windows 8 compatibility).

Unfortunately the Mac version of Flash Magic is a full version number behind the Windows version, and doesn't support the LPC810 yet. Their support forum mentions an update might be coming 'in the next week or so.' Meanwhile, the lpc21isp command line tool doesn't seem to work...not sure if the issue there is Mac- or LPC810-specific.

The LPC810 is blinking away merrily! The link to roll back the Windows 8 driver for the PL2303 worked just fine. I'll repeat it here so others don't have to search again.

I haven't tried the FTDI cable solution, yet, but I'm sure it would work, also.

Now if the nice people at Flashmagic will update the OSX version of their product...

The latest version 1.91 released on June 28 of lpc21isp supports the LPC810 but I use Ubuntu 10.04 so I do not know if it works on OSX.

The official release.

This fork has 2 small changes for Linux. Probably not needed for other platforms so use the official release for Windows and OSX. This version works with the starter kit.
