be careful with chips/electronics so close to the magnet in the turntable platter!
yikes!

:-O

should be ok, its like at least 3 1/2 inches away (lid on) and theres the die cast of the platter as a shield....plus they wernt on there that long ;)

Gaetano, I'd be interested in possibly doing a large buy from you, perhaps we could co-ordinate...

If enough people are interested, I could go out and do the mouser/digikey/mcmaster/schaeffer order process for 50 or 100 x0xes...

If I got 100 people, may be possible to knock off $10 or $20 of the price. These would most likely sell for the adashop price of $330, which would include S&H to the US, little more for other countries.

I can send out kits, all I need is... (this is for 50 kits)

1200 x 2SC536F
50 x 2SK30A(0)
50 x 2SK30A(Y)
100 x AN6562 (Might be able to find a sub)
50 x 2SC2291
150 x 2SC1583
50 x LA4140
50 x BA6110

Eh? If these parts can all be sources, or reliable substitutions can be made, more kits can be made... I just wonder how much it would add to the cost-per-kit.

Give me a reply on the forums if you are interested, or I'll just buy 1-off x0xes, assemble, and sell them on ebay like the evil capitalist I am.

Meanwhile, I'ma call around and see what is out there...

it'd do us well to find a list of alternate (non rare) parts to use.

even if it didn't sound great, they could at least be socketed placeholders, so people could at least have a synth to play with until they found the real parts.

subatomicglue, based on your comparison page between transistors of differing beta, I noticed the difference. It Isn't a bad difference. Maybe we can just try plain ass old high-gain transistors that aren't $124923784987 each.

I know Limor went through many transistors whilst developing the very first x0xen. I just wouldn't want to go out, buy all parts and get normal trannies and have it not work :'(
