Curiosity gets the best of me...

I figure we have a wide variety of peeps here, albeit with a similar interest with respect to electronics. I also figure that we pretty much all like to *tinker*.

So my simple question is this (wait for it, it's a doozy!):

What's your *current* favorite musical artist/band?

Mine is AC/DC because they freakin' rock--and I just like to freakin' rock!

Oh, and can you name your *current* favorite song?

Mine is Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World. I know, I know; I'm an 80s freak!

I'm pretty sure this qualifies.

I don't know about FAVORITES, but any kind of music that's fast and upbeat... So I like a lot of Ska... RBF, Streetlight, Mustard Plug, Mad Caddies, etc...

My favorite song right now is probably "They Provide the Paint For the Picture-Perfect Masterpiece That You Will Paint On the Inside Of Your Eyelids" by The Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution... (Say THAT three times fast)

haha, I get it... current... ac/dc... real funny 8)

I've been listening to a LOT of chiptunes lately, my favoirte artist is dubmood. I just really like the square waves (and saw, nice and crunchy)

And maru knows how to juice them gameboys.

If I had to pick a song off the top of my head I guess I would probably go for
transient skip off "The FlashBulb\2003 - Resent and the April Sunshine Shed"

Amazing artist/album if you like IDM-ish stuff in my opinion.

Peter Gabriel has been in my top 2 for like 15 years. But music is like food for me. It is hard to say THIS is my 1 favorite person. Like when I am programing, I love to listen to trance or house. When I am at work and doing graphics or animation, I'll do something like BT or Blue Man Group. But then I have a huge range of somewhat eclectic stuff... Spock's Beard, Dream Theater, Kula Shaker. So I suppose then the top favorites would be PG, BT, BMG, Tori Amos, Zappa, Grateful Dead (although sadly I think I am growing out of it them).

Favorite song is hard too, but I think I can get it to a couple (strike that) few.
Peter Gabriel - Secret World, Biko, Family Snapshot, Don't Give Up
Pink Floyd - On the Turning Away (just deep and true)
Rush - Red Barchetta (freakin great story, imagery, music all rolled into one tune)

That's like asking favorite food to a gourmand. However, right now I'm seriously digging Regina Spektor, Cake Bake Betty, and Dresden Dolls (dunno, women, pianos, angst, good lyrics.) Postal Service, Dntel, Jenny Lewis, Death Cab, Rilo Kiley (pull a Matt Pinfield and connect the bands on that one.) SOAD, Linkin Park, Floyd, Beck, Crystal Method. Electronic music that actually goes somewhere (not that meandering stuff that goes on for 15 minutes- I can't pay attention that long.) Big band, ska, punk, funk, hip hop, college radio, etc. I guess you could say I have ecclectic tastes.

In no particular order of awesomeness:
Artist - Track

Agalloch - You Were But A Ghost In My Arms
Yahel - Open Your Mind
Shpongle - Behind Closed Eyelids
ATB - Let U Go
Agathodaimon - Serpent's Embrace
Bone Thugs N Harmony - 1st Of The Month
Norther - A Fallen Star
Kottonmouth Kings - 420
Agemixer - Strobosphere

I'm on last.fm as mngrif too. I think I'll have to roast a party mix with all the above on it, I'll probably fill up the rest of the CD with some Infected Mushroom too.

I usually listen to DJ mixes (Tiesto, ATB, Above & Beyond, DJ Day, and so on, nothing less than an hour long) when hacking, rap/metal/rock when with friends since they don't like music that is made for tryptamines and phenylethylamines :P

I have just about every style I've ever found in my collection, right now I'm looking for some traditional Arabic or Indian (as in from the country India) music.

Music is humanity's bread and butter of culture. Without it, I couldn't imagine us being the people we are today at all. Music is so deeply ingrained in each and every person... Before there was language there was music!

Let me add anything with Jan Johnston doing the vocals to that list. She does trance vocals, very soft and soothing but depending on the artist she's with, very haunting. Does a lot of work with DJ Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold.

Also, if you can find it, I *HIGHLY* suggest amoebaassassin - Piledriver. It just keeps going and going...
