found another timing bug im afraid, this time with the half tempo.

It just seems that half speed is out by a little, and toggling back to normal speed its always in sync, no matter how many times you toggle, normal is always in sync and half speed is always out a little.

can someone try to recreate this please

Uh-oh, I don't think I need to recreate it when I think about it...
That is probably just how I happened to implement it, it should be off by one tick always if that is the case. You will notice it a lot more if you lower the tempo to 30 BPM or so I would guess.

I'll have a look at it soon, it is hopefully trivial to fix.

I first would like to thank SokkAN for his crazy alternative firmware on the sequencer as it makes the x0xb0x really cool to play live
But do you know if it is possible to change the bank and the sequence using Program change Midi messages ? reading the doco, it seems it hasn't been implemented. Am I right ? Is it cause the bank is selected through an 16 position hexa switch ?

if you are slaved and hammer on the done button, sometimes sync is lost, confirmed on both my x0x as midi slave and din slave

New feature idea: When the tempo knob is held down, have the bank LEDs blink the tempo, one digit at a time. Of course, there's no zero, so 10 would probably have to represent that.

This occurred to me tonight while I was hacking around with c0ntr0l. It always bugged me that there's no way to tell the exact tempo on the x0x unless you hook it up through c0ntr0l. (Of course, if you actually change the tempo on the x0x, c0ntr0l freezes up...)

another possible idea (but no idea how to implement it) would be the ability to have more than 16 steps (using the next adjacent bank for the extra steps)

ie. you could use bank 1&2 and get 32 step patterns

I think the thing to do would be to support CHAINING patterns while in edit mode (instead of CHAIN in edit doing a random pattern)? but I guess to do this you must be auto-saving as you move from pattern to pattern.

I just downloaded the x0x source code and am familiarizing myself with it, to see if its something I might be able to accomplish

Hello, I'm new on this topic and have an idea on new functionality for the SokkOS firmware.

- It would be nice if I could send a start and stopsignal from an external sequencer to the x0xb0x by a midicontroller signal (CC). Most sequencers send a start signal when you press play, but most of the time this is not the moment you want the x0xb0x to start playing.

- Furthermore it would be very cool if I could trigger independent patterns by midinote from an external sequencer. For example pattern 1 of bank 1 starts playing when I send midinote c1 to the x0xb0x; Pattern 2 of bank 1 starts when i send midinote d1; the third pattern by e1 and so on.

Now when I make a song and press start on my midi-sequencer (renoise) the x0xb0x starts playing immediatley, most of the time you don't want the acid tune to start at the beginning of the song, by sending a start signal you can start the acidtune later on in the song. After that I can change the pattern by sending a midinote to the x0xb0x or send a stopsignal to stop the x0xb0x.

If this is already featured in some firmware I really would like to know.

Thanks for making sokkos, it really makes making music much more fun!

update 13-02: Start/stop signal has no need, I could also make an empty pattern and trigger it by midinote if I don't want to hear the x0xb0x

tbh id hate those features, unless they were "off" as standard, what i do is always make pattern 8 in any bank blank with 16 steps, so that way it only makes noise when i press a bank i want, maybe you should try this.

As for pattern via midi, its a nice idea but its not really needed is it? i mean half the fun of the x0x is changing patterns manually, at least in my studio it is

Also if you're going to change patterns via MIDI a more standardized way would be to do it on program change

clearly, and you can use a software or a midibox behind to change midi notes to prgram change messages. i did a button box like this 2 years ago. useful .

Yes, I agree with julienvoirin: It would be great to be able to save a loop, forwards or backwards converted into a regular pattern.

Also, I'd love to see multiple-note priority when using midimode as a midi>cv/gate converter. Right now, if you hold down a note, press another and releases it again, SokkOS already forgotten the of the first one.
