"Fresh Air" project status?

The operation of transmitters designed to jam or block wireless communications is a violation of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended ("Act"). See 47 U.S.C. Sections 301, 302a, 333. The Act prohibits any person from willfully or maliciously interfering with the radio communications of any station licensed or authorized under the Act or operated by the U.S. government. 47 U.S.C. Section 333. The manufacture, importation, sale or offer for sale, including advertising, of devices designed to block or jam wireless transmissions is prohibited. 47 U.S.C. Section 302a(b). Parties in violation of these provisions may be subject to the penalties set out in 47 U.S.C. Sections 501-510. Fines for a first offense can range as high as $11,000 for each violation or imprisonment for up to one year, and the device used may also be seized and forfeited to the U.S. government.

"Fresh Air" project status?

Postby xoxota » Fri Apr 15, 2005 2:10 pm

Hi LadyAda. Was taking alook around the rest of your site, and ran into that "FreshAir" project here. Are you still working on that? Virtually everyone I know would PAY to have one of these. Are those PCB designs final?

What "considerations" do you mean, when you talk about designing the PCB around the microwave transmissions? I'm kind of a n00b, so I don't fully understand the effects that these RF fields could have on the othe components...

actually, it got renamed "wave bubble" and was finished in my thesis. its somewhat documented in there.

i /believe/ FCC regulations prohibit me from selling kits...the PCB isnt final. I plan to make a simple-to-use/make high-frequency noise generator (say, 2GHz) but thats -after- i finish x0xb0x and minimintymp3 and spokepov and...

You might be right about those regulations, since you arn't using it on your own property and do not warn people. If you were at home, had a warning, and could guarantee that it did not extend into other houses/apartments, then you should be free to use it.
