this morning my package landed at my workdesk.

wow!
silkscreen job is truly remarkable.

With the work you do, you leave strong taste for more, Brian.
what's your next project, if you had something in mind?

Edit: i would seriously consider getting one of xoxio tags, for additional price, if those will be made once.

my next project is moving  I'm moving to a new house over the course of the next 3 weeks. That's going to keep me busy. As for real project I'm not exactly sure, I have an idea for something I want to do but not sure just yet. I will be supporting the build of the x0xi0 kits for the next several weeks, I'm sure there will be a lot of questions.
I can't take all the credit for the quality of the top panel. I took a lot of design cues from other hardware and other peoples work and went from there. As far as the quality of the silkscreen itself I can only take credit for quoting with several companies and picking one that I knew does good work at reasonble price. I agree though, the panel looks even better in person than in the pics.

Got my kit today, thanks Brian! I think I am one of the final "first run" purchasers (SN 121). Just want to echo the comments of the outstanding silk screen on the front panel, as well as the nice packaging job for all of the kit components.

Now just gotta build the thing!

just to update you guys yet again on the Install manual ...thanks for being patient. It's gone through several revisions back and forth between Booster and I and it looks like we will be uploading it over the weekend. As I have mentioned previously there are two manuals. One for those who are installing the Full mod kit and second one for those who are upgrading from the I/O & Overdrive kit. The install manuals are essential, they're about 70 pages each, lots of pics etc.. so it's a good idea to wait for them to be sent before attempting to put the kit together.

Thanks Brian... I've got one of each to install on two separate boxes. Look forward to the final result.

Oh yes... the panel is perfect!

Don't worry, you're not quite the last yet. Mine hasn't arrived yet and I'm based in the UK.
I'm sure it won't be long.

On a side note I sent what should be the final draft of the install manual back to Brian today.
No doubt he will make it available very soon. 8)

Here are the Install Manuals.
Everyone is missing a 2.2k resistor as I had to change this part last minute (R486, was 1k)
As you guys go through the parts list please let me know if there is anything missing from your kits.
I will also be emailing these links to everyone that has purchased a kit.

The manual looks great... Is there a particular approach I should take if I am building from scratch? Or should I finish the x0x completely THEN put the kit together and install it? I am just trying to keep the build as clean as possible... You should see my original x0xb0x, I used a specific diameter screwdriver to put the curved bend in the vertical resistors and everything that can be is oriented to the left and top of the PCB (i.e. multiplier bands on the resistors all face left). A tad OCD I admit, but the x0xb0x powered up and was usable without having to do any troubleshooting. :D

I would say build the standard x0xb0x first and thoroughly test it to make sure everything works. Then build the x0xi0 PCBs and integrate into the fully working x0xb0x.

I think what boops is asking is exactly what I was about to ask too Brian - if building the x0xb0x from scratch, can we successfully build a working x0xb0x first with the substitutions (on page 44 of the full install manual)? Some of the things I see are just resistor substitutions, but other changes involve the outright removal of some components?

As a newbie, I'm trying to avoid as much as possible having to desolder/replace things, but at the same time I want to follow your advice and having a working "stock" x0xb0x before proceeding to the x0xi0 mod steps...

Thanks,
Dan

yes, this has been asked many times.
I would build the stock x0b0x first, but using the substitute parts values.
Make sure to use the new included LED standoffs, they're slightly longer than stock x0x.
Remember to use the encoder I included.
For S1, the waveform switch, I would just leave it out and test the VCO separately as outlines in the x0xb0x manual, then just use pieces of wire to act as the switch temporarily. Then you won't have to remove the toggle switch later.

If you do it this way and get the x0xb0x working then you will have to remove less components...
- three resistors
- one cap
- one diode
- two trimpots
