IC problem

hi, i'm new to this forum and i have a question to ask

I am making a minipov 3 DIY
"i put the microcontroller in the socket and soldered it on to the board, does it matter?"

The answer should be a resounding maybe. If the uC still works, then its fine. if not, you will need a new one. However, it is highly likely that it is fine, unless you really heated the pin a LOT when soldering it.
