Q: HEF4066 possible replacement for MC14066BCP?

Postby funx » Wed May 05, 2010 10:04 pm

Hi,

I ordered some non-rare parts from a local surplus store.

It looks like they gave me a
HEF4066BP http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet- ... 066BP.html
instead of a
MC14066BCP http://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/MC14066B-D.PDF

I think the R on for the MC14066BCP is 250 Ohms at 5V, 120 Ohms@10V, but the HEF4066BP is 350 Ohms at 5V, 80 Ohms@10V...

The chips seem similar, but I was wondering should I just go and order the right one at digikey, especially it being used in a critial part, the Envelope generator/VCA?

Turns out they also gave me a bunch of 74LS chips instead of 74HC... :( I read somewhere that they can work, but don't use the same power and voltage levels... dang...

Thanks

Eric

Looks like the HEF4066 isn't usable (guess it needs to be Buffered CMOS)...

I'll definitely be more careful when buying from surplus stores... :)

FYI. I ended up buying the correct chips, but I'm finishing up the final details of my x0x...

Hehe... Thanks. Final details are... installing the knobs, rubber feet... So shouldn't be too bad! :) That part hasn't moved so much in the last year with all the OT at work and my discovering the RC aircraft/drones/fpv/aerial photo hobby (see any of the video from the flitetest guys on youtube, to see just how addictive that hobby is :P).

Then there's always little upgrades (tb-303 overlay, silver knobs, distortion, hacks), fix usb not working (dead chip and broken traces), but those aren't essential... So it's still a work in progress :P
