new store (mainly selling aluminum cases)

Postby reedlaw » Thu Feb 04, 2010 4:54 am

I've been working on this for quite a long time now as some of you may remember, but I think it's about time I opened to the public. My main offering right now is a custom-made anodized aluminum case:

I plan to offer much more including completed x0xb0xes, parts, and possibly kits. Everything is a work in progress and I haven't had any real orders placed yet, so please bear with me. We are located in central China, but can ship all over the world by EMS. There is a shipping calculator that will tell you exactly the shipping price to your home country. I tried to make the shipping as inexpensive as possible. For example, to ship one aluminum case to the US is just under $20. You can check my store out now:

is that case suitable/available if the IO/Overdrive mode is already done? obviously the backplate would need extra holes, but not sure how the standoffs differ (there is a difference as far a si remember)

I believe it is spacious enough to accommodate IO Board modifications, but to be sure I would need exact measurements.

Nice job! I like that..
My only query being.. Any particular reason for the extra space at the base/front, by the keyboard?
And while I am here.. Should you ever consider producing a more '303' look front panel, (Like the lovely SE Bassline, then I would be all over that like a rash!
Still, I do like it as it is now too though.. 8)

Extra space could mean more room for mods, a hand-rest, aesthetics, or whatever reason you can think of. I could possibly design another one after these are gone with a more 303 look, but this one is classic x0x (same font as ladyada's).

These look nice. But i would have liked to see a different face style. Maybe offer different variations at some point? Nice price though, if i ever get another kit, i'd probably pick one of these up.

Hi reedlaw, nice cases ;)

I have a couple of questions for you:

can we pay with paypal?

what's the size of the box?

can you sell an extra front panel?, just in case something goes wrong when adding mods :D

thanks a lot!

1. So far my store only takes paypal.

2. The box is 228mm x 260mm x 56mm. I have also added DWG and DXF files with full measurements on the product page.

3. Sure, I can sell an extra front panel.

Great price, but can you make it smaller? Seems like a lot of wasted space at the front and back - cool for adding mods, but I'd prefer a smaller footprint, any plans for smaller?

Also any plans to make some decent ribbon cables with molex (or similar) pin headers?
She may not look like much but she’s got it where it counts, kid. I’ve made a lot of special modifications myself.

Like I said above, the extra space could be used for adding mods. If there is enough demand, I suppose I could look into having the extra top and bottom area lopped off, or you could always DIY with one of these cases.

Make it as small as possible and I will buy at least one, depending on how small you can get it.

the smallest is 240 x 200 x 40mm... smaller is not possible if you use standard x0xb0x components inside.
my own alucase is 240 x 205 x 42mm. (there are pictures here on forum)

cheers

ps: I'm still working on veeeery small enclosures ;) but not with the standard components. but this will take a lot of time I think.
