Problem charging Creative Zen Vision M

Postby Chewie's-jock-itch » Sun Jul 02, 2006 11:18 am

Forgive my ignorance as I am a Minty-newbie.

I received my Mintyboost kit the other day (the ver2 PCB with the 10k resistors). I assembled it yesterday, and everything checks out with my multimeter. However, it will not charge my Creative Zen Vision M. When I plug it in, it turns on the player, but it does not show as "charging."

Anyone have any suggestions on what I might need to modify to get it to work? Thanks for any help that you can provide in advance!

Yes, I installed R4 and R5. Any suggestions? I don't even know where to begin.

Just another data point, my Vision M doesn't seem to charge either (not a problem as I built the Booster for my son's iPod). Same behavior. I suspect that the M requires an "active' application on the other end before it charges. I'll try a few things tonight.

Recharge of Creative Zen touch

Postby gdmj100 » Tue Jul 11, 2006 5:09 am

I recently purchased the kit also and it does the same with my Zen touch. Awesome device, works great with my cell phone. Any advice on how to make it work with my Zen would be greatly appreciated. Hope you all have a good week.

Cell phone charging

Works great on a Motorola MPx 220, but not on my Zen Touch.
Thanks

Does anyone have any idea as to how to modify the typical mintyboost in order to work with a Zen Vision M?

Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I made myself a nice (albeit minty) paper-weight!

Have you tried plugging the Vision M into the USB port of another PC or laptop that doesn't have the Creative software installed. I'm guessing if you do that the result will be the same as plugging it into Minty Boost. Some devices require an application on the other end of the USB cable in addition to power before they will charge. I suspect the the Vision M is one of them. I don't understand why they would do this but they do.

It has been reported that the Zen will charge with the 4mm/banned adapter.
