Good distortion/overdrive circuits?

Anyone got some experience with these? I would like to build one into one of my x0xb0xes, but am unsure which is the most suitable.
I have tried Julian Voirins wasp distortion mod, as it was the nicest sounding one in the demo's I heard. But it didn't really work out unfortunately. It sounded quite good, but not as nice as the demo's, plus even when switched out, it was interfering with the standard sound a little. After much messing around with the proto board, I gave up and ditched it.
What others come recommended around here?

And yes, I know there is a multitude of guitar pedals I could use. But i'd really like to build a nice overdrive circuit of some kind into my x0xb0x.

Thanks Altitude. But that sounds like a pedal? Or did you build it into your x0x? Im open for hacking inexpensive pedals into it too, if do-able. But im definitely after a built in overdrive/distortion mod, rather than external.

There's also the accenter-tool1 from the beepworld guy (germany). It's pretty good, pretty much a TS-808 with different values. It could fit inside the x0xb0x if you wired up panel-mounted pots and switches. I believe it's about $70US.

It's a distortion/overdrive originally based on the infamous TS-808, but with lots of new features targeted specifically on the 303 sound. Stuff like dynamics restoration makes sure your accents dont get flatted out.

That said, it does look very nice. It even uses the very same knobs I used on my x0xb0x builds.

but this is notable enough, i kinda prefer external effects.
some distortion mods pull down the power-supply (and affect the sound of the x0x), but as far as i see the x0xI0 handles this well

With schematics for guitars you need to put in a 20k from the input then a 1k to the ground/0v. Since synths produce larger voltages. Otherwise the effect won't work. Check out Ken Stones 'Stomp Box Adaptor' page.
Tube screamers are good but I use a fuzz face with antique pnp transistors and a antique 6h1n tube overdrive. It dependes what sound you want . I use these with my cz101 and my jx'sv for a eerie macabre sounds. My evolver has distortion

Your better off increasing the output of the VCO and overdriving the VCF. Check out Wave Folders as well as these are very simple.

I did this very simple one, not build into the x0x, but i think it will be easy to fit. Power source can vary... think the opamp i use can handle up to 30V DC or whatever.

what about using an old stomp box that uses an 12v battery?
