Power Supply

Postby SuperMiguel » Mon Oct 11, 2010 10:09 am

So im kinda tired of using batteries, and shitty ac adapters to test my projects and i decided to purchase a PSU, which power supply you guys recommend around $100?

will something like this: http://www.mastechpowersupply.com/dc-po ... od_64.html be good enough?

Anything is probably fine really, unless you need high precision adjustments or better than average filtering etc.

Main thing I would say is to get a good brand. Or if you get a cheap brand, be prepared to have to replace the capacitors in it.

I'm going to guess that like cheap computer PSUs, any cheap benchtop SMPS is going to have capacitors of equal (rubbish) quality.

I own three Mastec regulated variable DC power supplies and they all work fine for my needs. I like the backlit LCDs on the latest HY1803D, which makes it easier to see and to remember I left it on.

The HY1503D unit you linked to I have not used yet, the price is right, the fine/course adjustment knobs look useful and the display looks nice.
What is better than an Arduino? An Arduino with a laser!

Is 3A enough? Or should I build a bench power supply from a atx psu I case I need higher amperage?
