if it has an expression controller or mod knob on it
you could take out the pot that its connected to
and replace it with yours
and then remap those midi signals to notes inside a computer

its an Edirol PCR50 and yes it have expression plug and hold plug.
if i connect the softpot to the expression plug can i actually play VSTI's with it without me touching the keyboard?
remap those midi signals to notes inside a computer

you mean from the vsti plug it self?

Guest,

i was wrong the about the connection of the PL.
the left pin is ground
the right pin is the ring
the middle pin is the tip.
i connected the softpot to the expression, it got midi signals, i manage to control some VSTI cutoff with it and modulation and stuff..but could not play sound with the softpot.
i didnt thought that it will work but had to try.
i need something to trigger the vsti like my midi keyboard, the softpot it self cant do that, (but u already know that)

what can i do next?

you could use some software like max or puredata
to change the midi signals

thanks for replying guest

i attend to buy this product : http://tomscarff.110mb.com/midi_ribbon_ ... roller.htm
its not expensive and i think will be great to me :)
i just dont know if i will need 100k softpot or is 20k is enough..?
i'm using a 500mm softpot.
my goal is to be able to do this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyhhNXXGIa4 move to 3:05 min.
as u can see this Russian guy push on the side with his thumb and its somehow trigger the midi, only then with his other hand he plays, that is so cool! i must have it
i'v sent a mail to the dud that sale the midi to ribbon about asking how can i trigger the ribbon with his product but didnt got any answer yet.
i hope i can do that with his product.
