closed loop vision has completely changed my life. seriously, you guys have to try it. i can place -anything- now. ive got microsd card holders to place flawlessly with CHP - i had spent -days- on it before in agony.

=====================================

special note from pt - GUYS PLEASE ADD STUFF TO THE WIKI - seriously, if you discover something, anything put it in the wiki - it's helpful. if you're getting help from MDC and/or manncorp add any new things, together we can make a great resource!

I set everything up today for closed-loop, but didn't get a chance to try it. (Schools on strike = 5 year old stuck with dad = no pick and place fun for the day). I'm working through some SOT23 issues, but I'll be glad to add something to the Wiki once I get some feedback from Isono. Agree there's a huge value in several of us having the same machine to pool knowledge.

Nonsense! You could, for example, PnP bits of carrot onto bread using Marmite instead of solder paste. I'm sure a 5-yr-old would love that. :)

Re. the comment about not understanding angle limit in the closed-loop imaging section - I don't know the MDC, but my P&P software has a parameter to limit how far it is allowed to try rotating a part to get 'correct' orientation before rejecting as not correctable. If you consider, say a SOT-32, this is effectively a triangular part as far as lead ends are concerned, so you don't want it to try rotating it by anything approaching 60 deg as it could be mis-recognised, whearas a 2-ended rectangular chip part could be rotated by this much and still be OK.
Having said that, I'm not sure under what circumstances you'd need to change this setting from something like +/-30 degrees, unless you maybe had some really, really loose taping or an oddball part shape that could be mis-recognised at a smaller rotation.

Actually I've always thought that a P&P could do some awesome cake decoration if you could just find candy in tape&reel form..

Arggg, stop it! ... The idea of tiny candy sprinkles being sucked up into the head of a $25K pick and place is sending a shiver down my spine! :shock:

That said ... I bet I could fit some Pez candies in some empty tape and put them on the tray holder. :D

It's not much, but I added an example for a BGA part to the part def list as well as a different QFN chip (AT86RF212) just to give some other examples of programming different package types. There was nothing for BGA. I've only tested that part on a few boards (LPC3131), but it seems to behave fairly well.

yeah this is what it is, note that its it stepper-units, not degrees. 30 units = 1 degree. 5 units = ~0.15 degree

How hard can it be to clean out a vacuum pump.. :D

One a sort of related subject I'm wondering about using an icing bag to splurge paste onto the edge of the stencil... must pay a visit to a cake-decorating shop soon...!
