IC8 inserted backwards and powered.

Postby safetyboy » Wed Nov 17, 2010 5:26 am

Would this chip have blown? I reversed it again and am getting all led's working and switches.

Or would it be best to replaced this chip.

ic8 has nothing to do with the sound
it just lights up leds

do any of the modes work
like random mode

did you do all the tests during the build
did everything work before reversing ic8

all modes seem to work, i can here it pulsing through the headphones. all LED work and buttons..
i have no Oscilloscope, just a multimeter

IC15B pin 4 seems to go from 0v and build to 300mv then restart, is this right.?

Also USB works fine, computer finds it and the x0xb0x software see,s it. Just cant get audio out.

replaced IC8 with new one too.

this is also working fine

did it ever make sound

its probably ic15
compare the voltages on it
to the ones shown in the troubleshooting section

here are those voltages
i always forget where they are at

pin / dc bias / ac signal
1 / 5.3v / 10mv
2 / 5.3v / 0mv
3 / 0.0v / 0mv
4 / 0.0v / 1.2v
5 / 0.0v / 0v
6 / 5.3v / 750mv
7 / 5.3v / 750mv
8 / 5.3v / 750mv
9 / 12v / 0v

pin4 is the signal from the gate
so it should go to 1.2v when the gate is high
and 0v when the gate is low

the signal at pin1 is very hard to see except on a clean scope

1 - 5.35
2 - 5.3
3 - 0.1mV
4 - 10V
5 - 0.0V
6 - 5.3
7 - 5.3
8 - 8.3mV
9 - 11.9

The Batch number is 743 H32

is the part number ba6110
and do you have it in the ic15b placement
and is it orientated properly

pin4 being at 10v is really bad
although earlier you stated it was only 300mv

check for shorts to ground around pin8

Its BA6110, IC15B and Orientated right!

10V on pin 4, would this be a bad chip or a short? all Cap's are orientated OK and the right values.

Pin 5 is grounded thats all

rehit the solder joints on ic15
and then double check q1 through q4
for proper part and orientation

if it still is 10v on pin4 after that
then ic15 is bad

OK so i started with just the power jumper in and pin 4 on BA6110 is @ 300mv and is like that until i plug in the last jumper which is J3 at the micro controller

Then it jumps up to 7-11V

Thanks so much for the help by the way, i would be pulling my hair out without it :D

that sounds like a bad ba6110

you might want to check the current coming out of q1
before you put a new ba6110 in
just to make sure that it wasnt damaged by something else
