the leds in this case are just down to how it was built, i think its probably due to the fact that there wernt any led standoffs used in the build, so chances are they were soldered with the face plate on (so they drop down a lot but all at the same level).

I wonder if i'm gonna have to re-seat my flat LEDs whenever i get one of these.

if your flat LEDs fit in the standard case it will also fit in the aluminum case I think.

okay... the welded screw mounts on my frontplates are 11.95mm long, if I'm not wrong the 15/32" mounts are 11.91mm long? the frontplates are made from 1.5mm aluminum.
so imho it should fit, but I've not tested this yet.

Hi guys, hope this is not a stupid question, but if I wanna change front plates, can you simply pull of the filter knobs? I'm pulling but they won't let go.. Got this one:

re. Removing knobs.

A method I was told (and have subsequently used successfully) is to loop a piece of wire under the knob and pull up. This means you should apply force evenly, and shouldn't move the pot in a way that will damage it or the board, or loosen the solder points.

Once I got them off, I put some silicon grease on the shafts to ensure I didn't repeat the problem at a later date.

One trick to get off stuck knobs is to use a small spoon as a lever

Willzyx x0xb0x Fitting Issues

I/O Board mods went well, no apparent problems at this time.

The fitting of the panel to the PCB, went surprisingly well, with no problems at all. All I had to do was rotate the REST ACCENT and SLIDE caps. The side pieces attached easily, the problems are with C41 C36 J6 and most notably J3. With respect to C36 and C41, they need to be moved away from each other and the heat sink from IC20 must be removed. Not sure how that will affect things, IC20 will be right above C36 C41 Q32...

WIllzyx kits come with quick connectors for J3, J4, J5, J6, J7 on the PCB. J4, J5, J7 are not affected but there is no way to slide the PCB into position with those quick connectors. As a solution, I will have to cut the female quick connector off of the wires and solder in a replacement single female pins. The the male side of the quick connector on the I/O board will need to be bent outward to make it all fit.

Prognosis? It will work, but you will spend a few hours and need some patients and soldering skills to get it all done. Be CAREFUL not to mixup any of the IC J3 wires or you F^*k things up a bit.

Willzyx x0xb0x Fitting Issues

what are the i/o board mods you are referring to? is this part of the willzyz build?

The mods to the I/O board are the soldering in the wires for the new on/off switch and cutting the trace. The Willzyx kits come with quick connectors that you solder to the PCB and I/O board to be used with all the jumpers. being able to separate the PCB and I/O board is nice if you need to get into the kit. Because the AL enclosure is fairly thin there isn't enough room between the boards for them to fit together with the added thickness of the quick connectors.

I was able to complete the mods to my Willzyx x0xb0x so I could get it in the SubStyler AL enclosure. It works great. I will post some pics of the changes tomorrow but you can check it out on youtube at the link below!
