Hi again,
the BA6110 IC is located in slot IC15B and is oriented with the notch toward the back of the board where the I/O jacks are...
Thanks

its looking like a bad ba6110

you can try setting it in keyboard mode
and then clipping a 220k resistor
from 12v to pin4 of the ba6110

this will bypass the envelope generator
the only other thing it can be besides for the ba6110
is the envelope generator putting too much current in
when the envelope is triggered

also recheck all the ba6110 voltages
in keyboard mode without any key presses
and see if the same spikey voltages exist

in keyboard mode no keys pressed...

pins...going from the back end nearest the I/O's ... where the notch is...leading me to believe I'm starting at pin 1 ?

1. my scope says 5.5v ( but it might be slightly off it's pretty old me thinks )
2. my scope says 5.5v ( but it might be slightly off it's pretty old me thinks )
3. nuttin
4. nuttin
5. nuttin
6. scope says 5.25v
7. scope says 5.25v
8. 5.5v
9. 12v

holding the probe on pin 1, every time I hit a key, no matter which key...it dropped from 5.5v to 2.6v

I didn't do the 220k resistor thing...is that still relevant ?

all those voltages look ok
so its something that happens on the envelope
so try the 220k resistor thing

do you mean jump a 220k resistor from the pin with 12v on it pin 9 ? to pin 4 directly ?

yes
put one side of the resistor to pin9
and the other side to pin4

closest thing I have in the house is 100k ohm resistors right now...

i have 220 ohm
and 22K ohm
and the 100k ohm..

do I have to go buy a resistor ?

ok, so I made that jump, and the result in my head phones was...volume at max

What is different now s that the "clicking" and the notes are at a similar yet very very low volume, a similar volume to where the osc has been riding.
I have the volume turned all the way up on the x0x...this is where I was hearing the notes/osc in the distant background before, and the "clicking" way way in the foreground ( like ouch in headphones )...now the "clicking" has been pushed back to where the osc is hangin' way way in the background

if you have it in keyboard mode
with no keys pressed
and the 100k resistor in place
and you do not hear a tone
then the ba6110 is bad
or maybe not soldered in well

this really sounds like a daff 6110 IMHO. I had one bad one that did almost the exact same thing

Hi,
well,
I found a 220k resistor, and I had put that in, and upon further review..
I hear a tone...it is at an extremely low volume, the same volume as the tone has been...and when I hit keys I hear it play the notes as it should, just at that extremely low volume still...
so, with this resistor in-line...it's kinda working at a really really low volume...really low...

with the resistor in place
and no buttons pressed
check the voltage at pin8 of the ba6110
if the signal isnt a few volts
then chip is dead
