if you have a mixer
plug the mixout into it
and see if the sound level is good

then check that you have a solid 6v
on pin7 of ic14

Mix out is fine to the ear

hi ,
just ignore that last reading on pin 7 as i hadnt grounded properly!

i have a pair of headphones, do i wrap wire around the sleeve and ground it - then simply probe each pin?

these are the reading from each pin
1= 0.84
2= 1.89
3= 1.92
4= 2.53
5= 0.00 - :|
6= 1.38
7= 6.04
8= 0.82
9= 0.16

thanks

connect an alligator clip or wire to the sleeve
and then touch the tip to pin1 of j5
if you dont hear anything
try pin6 of ic14
you should hear a quick pop sound
then listen on pin2

Thanks very much for your time and assistance guest.
It was indeed a bad chip, trying to operate the wrong way round!

Must have been one that I did in the early hours with a few beers in me.

Cheers
