cannot find arduinouno.inf

I installed the software from arduino.cc and windows recognized the board. When I go into the device manager it shows up under other devices instead of ports. When I update the driver the only thing that shows under the driver folder is FTDI usb drivers?

What version did you download? With version 22, the "arduino-0022\drivers" folder will contain:
"Arduino MEGA 2650.inf"
"Arduino UNO.inf"
anbd a folder called "FTDI USB Drivers"

ok for some reason the other 2 are listed as a notepad document and not showing up in the device manager. It is version 22 but they do show up when I go in the folder through the c drive but not when I browse through the device manager.

You don't say which version of Windows you are using. But in Windows 7, the device manager browser shows the folders only. When you selct a folder it searches the folder for the right .inf file.
