me too, anyone know where I can order a switch like that? radio shack only has super long toggle switches, candy light up or colored switches, or big bulky rockers. grrr... just want something nice and simple like this one... :)

thanks,

I got mine out of a computer power supply.
I saw an old computer carcas standing at the side of the road. Everything was taken out except for the power supply......

I bought one from Digikey.
Just finished installing. My fingers are sooo sore. I drilled a couple holes and proceeded to cut the opening till it matched the rectangular press-fit switch using just an exacto knife (and 6 blades).

Turned out great, looks great. :)

Wished the whole time that I had a small metal file. I'm an electronics tech, not a mahinest. have all the tech tools but lack a simple file

What you need is a case modder's tool, A hand nibbler. These can be found in many computer stores. Just drill a hole and you can cut the metal nicely. I have a switch all set to go once I get it working right.

A nibbler *smacks forhead* of course........

I remember now. I've used that at work.
Thanks so much.
Next time I need to do another mod that requires a straight edged hole I will remember.
For others doing this mod, they can save themselves alot of hard work by having the correct tool.
Most of the mods I will/have done are just drill holes and I fortunately do own a simple hand drill :)

How did you wire it up? I don't have my kit yet, so maybe it will be obvious when I get it, but isn't the power connector soldered directly to the board? From the pictures it looks like you may have cut a trace or drilled out one of the holes to bypass it. Details would be appreciated.

I'd like to add a switch as well as a battery pack. Ideally I'd have a 3-way switch (or two 2-way switches would work I suppose) so I can turn it off, on via the batteries, and on via the power adapter.

I cut a trace with a Dremel and jumped the open across the switch. Click photos for larger version.
