'make' fails on OS X Leopard compiling default Hello World?

by meese on Fri Feb 13, 2009 10:57 am

I'm trying to follow the 'hello world' tutorial on this page, but it doesn't seem to be working. The only thing I changed in the Makefile was "CC = avr-gcc.exe" to "CC = avr-gcc". This is what I get when I try to run it:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
make
avr-gcc -I.. -mmcu=atmega644 -mmcu=atmega644 -Wall -gdwarf-2 -std=gnu99 -DF_CPU=28636360UL -Os -DVIDEO_MODE=1 -fsigned-char -MD -MP -MT uzeboxSoundEngineCore.o -MF dep/uzeboxSoundEngineCore.o.d  -x assembler-with-cpp -Wa,-gdwarf2 -c  ../kernel/uzeboxSoundEngineCore.s
/usr/local/bin/../lib/gcc/avr/4.1.1/../../../../avr/include/stdint.h: Assembler messages:

../kernel/uzeboxSoundEngineCore.s:658: Error: garbage at end of line
make: *** [uzeboxSoundEngineCore.o] Error 1

It's actually much longer but I removed some of the repeating parts.

I initially had a similar problem. There's a page on the Uzebox wiki for Mac OS X specific stuff: http://uzebox.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mac_OS_X_Specific. For me, running
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
avr-gcc-select 4

fixed it.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That wants it down

That fixed it for me as well.

For some reason my AVR pack didn't come with avr-gcc-select. I tried installing avr-gcc with darwinports and it doesn't seem to come with this command either. Not sure what to do to get past these opcode error messages...

Oops! Turned out I had OSX-AVR and CrossPack installed at once, and it was using the OSX-AVR version of everything! Now it works!
